Humanities

Each classroom explores a different area of Inquiry each term which is integrated into other subject areas. The areas covered are Civics and Citizenship, Geography Economics and Business and History. The Inquiry lessons are designed to develop student interest in and enjoyment of local and world knowledge. Students are encouraged to examine processes that have shaped the modern world. This is demonstrated in the class by whole class discussions, group work, partnership work, poster and PowerPoint making. Often an incursion or excursion will be provided to deepen the student's knowledge about a topic. Students access information via teacher and expert presentations as well as by using laptops, iPads, interviews and books. As they progress through primary school, students revisit topics to deepen their understanding.
